This interesting project required the installation of a home cinema system in the basement of the property and a TV in the living room. Initially, a quote for the installation of a projector and electric projector screen in the basement was given, but as the job progressed the client specified that the basement would also be used during the day. As the basement also had superb views of the Salcombe estuary, the clients wanted to be able to keep the curtains open to enjoy the view as well as using the space for a home cinema installation.

Barton Solutions came up with an alternative to the original electric projector screen that would allow the clients to enjoy the benefits of both the view and the home cinema system. We installed a 42” LED screen, which would give superior quality picture quality in daylight, and a Bose acoustimass surround sound system. An Onkyo amplifier and DVD player were also installed, as well as Sky HD and a Phillips Pronto TSU9600 to provide a central control point for all the equipment. In the living room we installed a 26” Panasonic LCD TV on an electrical lift built into a cabinet. When not being watched, the TV would be completely hidden, allowing the focus of the room to be the view across the estuary and not the television. We also installed a Humax freesat HD box and Onkyo DVD player with a Phillips Pronto TSU9200 to control all of the living room equipment.
